Athens Conservancy had a very successful Dad’s Weekend Hike last semester. Over 25 dads and students showed up to tackle the 4-mile hike together.
Here are just a few reasons why you should hike with Athens Conservancy in the future:
1. Hikes with Athens Conservancy are free. This is a great deal compared to other events in the area which can be expensive.
2. All hikes are guided. The trails Athens Conservancy uses are open for the public, but for an amateur hiker, the trials can be intimidating. Hiking with Athens Conservancy takes the stress out of planning a hike on your own.
3. All hikes are close to Ohio University’s campus and offers a look at the nature in the area. Athens Conservancy works very hard to protect land in the area. By hiking with Athens Conservancy you can show support for their efforts.
4. Hikes serve as a great social opportunity to meet new people or stay connected. One attendee of the Dad’s weekend Hike described the experience as “a great bonding event.”
There will be new opportunities to hike with Athens Conservancy during spring semester. Save the date for Athens Conservancy’s Groundhog Hike on February 5 and stay tuned for a date for the Mom’s Weekend Hike which will take place during Ohio University’s Mom’s Weekend 2017. More information about these hikes will be made available soon on Athens Conservancy’s Facebook and twitter pages. (https://www.facebook.com/theathensconservancy/ & @athensconserve)
